The Sea Ranch Thespians will have auditions for their spring show Close Encounters at 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 8 & 9, 2025 at the Ohlson Ranch House. Roles are available for 4 women and 3 men of varying ages. Performances will be May 8-11 & 15-18, 2025. Afternoon rehearsals begin in late March.

Close Encounters is a compilation of three one act plays directed by Tony Salamone, Michael Bonner & Karen L. Russell. Sure Thing by David Ives is a witty, fast-paced exploration of the nuances of human interaction, communication, and the pursuit of connection. As two strangers meet and attempt to strike up a conversation, with every misstep, they start again in an attempt to get things “right”. The Way of All Fish is a dry comedy about a woman of means and her assistant. Written by the amazing comic and screenwriter Elaine May, this one-act explores the quiet assumptions and power dynamics of American wealth. Please Have a Seat and Someone Will Be with You Shortly by Garth Wingfield follows two individuals who have shared a waiting room in their therapist’s office for months but have not formally met. As they finally engage, interesting dynamics emerge.
